Twelve representatives of three Aiyl Aimaks (local governments) Sumbula, Ak-Suu, and Toguz-Bulak of Leilek district were on a study tour in Mady Aiyl Okmotu of Kara-Suu district in Osh Oblast and visited the office of the Public Fund “DIA” on July 18-20, to learn their experience in finding approaches and mechanisms to implement legislation on gender equity and prevention of domestic violence.

The participants learned that a strong working group, including the local government authorities of Leilek district of Batken Oblast and other stakeholders working jointly is necessary to adopt effective mechanisms that prevent domestic violence and ensure social and legal support to women – victims of domestic violence in three target aiyl aimaks.

The Public Association “Activist” organized this study tour as part of a project "Assisting in prevention and reduction of domestic violence in Leilek district", launched in June 2017 with the support of the USAID Collaborative Governance Program. The project is working to strengthen the potential of local government bodies and will assist in adopting mechanisms that prevent violence and ensure support to women-victims of domestic violence in three target aiyl aimaks of Leilek district.
