On April 9-10, a two-day AgeNet International Conference titled "Ageing with dignity in the modern world: the society consolidation, new opportunities and innovations in the public policy" was successfully conducted in Bishkek with over 50 participants from countries of Central Asia, Eastern Europe, and Europe, including Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Russia, Belorussia, Denmark, Germany, Italy, and Serbia.

Minister of Social Development Kudaibergen Bazarbaev, moderator of the conference, opened the conference and introduced key speakers of the conference, including Vice Prime Minister Damira Niyazalieva, UNDP Resident Representative Alexander Avanesov, Danish Church Aid Regional Representative Thomas Skov-Hansen, Help AgeNet International Regional Representative Marco Aviotti, Frederick Ebert Foundation Regional Representative Britta Utz, Elena and Gennady Timchenko Charitable Fund Program Director Vadim Samorodov, and Resource Center for the Elderly Public Union Chair Svetlana Bashtovenko. The participants of the conference discussed and analyzed joint actions and policies created by government, civil society, and international organizations for social protection of older people, while considering new global trends in order to develop a joint plan of action aimed at enhancing social well-being of older people. As a result, a joint plan of action was developed for Age Net International network members and other key stakeholders to ensure integration of international best practices and innovative practice into social policy for older people at the national level.

USAID Collaborative Governance Program, through its Act Now grant to Public Union Recource Center for the Elderly, supported the AgeNet International Conference with printing informational and outreach materials and organizing a reception for the conference participants.
