On June 18, over 30 representatives of CSOs, government officials, including two Members of the Parliament Omurbek Abdrakhmanov and Ravshan Jeenbekov, participated in the roundtable discussions of the draft Law on Conflict of Interests held in the Ministry of Economy. The roundtable was organized as part of the USAID Collaborative Governance Program supported project "The institution of a conflict of interest in the public service in Kyrgyzstan" implemented by PU Institute of Management Consultants (IMC) in partnership with PU Atuul and PF Promotank.

During the roundtable discussions, IMC Director Azamat Attokurov, shared an international practice on overcoming the conflict of interests in state and municipal governance, presented findings of the survey on defining problems and risks with existing conflicting laws and legislation and ways of addressing those risks through focus group discussions with target audience including state service officials, human resources staff in state and municipal bodies, and representatives of businesses, which participated in tenders announced by public and municipal organizations. The participants also were familiarized with level of awareness on conflict of interests among business representatives (18%) and state and municipal employees (82%). As the result of fruitful discussions, all participants signed a Resolution supporting the draft law on Conflict of Interests. Tilek Sayakbaev, Head of the Department on Preventing Corruption within the Prime Minister's Office moderated the roundtable discussions. According to Mr. Sayakbaev, the Prime Minister's Office will assist in promoting the draft law approval and submit it for initiation further in the Parliament.
