The Draft Law on Conflict of Interests has been developed and submitted to the Parliament in July of 2015 after public hearings and coordination with the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic as part of the IMC project “The institution of conflict of interest in the public service in Kyrgyzstan” supported by the USAID Collaborative Governance Program.

Director of Constitutional Policy Nurlan Sadykov said at the press conference: “The Draft Law on Conflict of Interests has been designed to unify and improve the law and particularly for preventing and combating corruption. ”

IMC Executive Director Azamat Attokurov  highlighted: "In the fight against corruption, we need a law, which is a tool for prevention of corruption. Corruption is directly derived from the presence of conflict of interests in public service. The presence of a personal interest of the civil servants - this is normal. But when the moment comes and his personal interests are in conflict with public and state interests, this is bad. This law helps to resolve such situations. Civil servants, entering the public service, are obliged to disclose their relatives, who are working in public service. Also, the law regulates the acceptance of gifts, "- said Azamat Attakurov. Mr. Attokurov also appealed to MPs to support the law, noting that this initiative is not only of the government but also of civil and business communities.
