On November 30, 2015, the Public Foundation DIA will conduct a roundtable in its resource center as a part of the project “Osh Oblast’s Support for the 16 Days Campaign of Activism against Gender-Based Violence”. The roundtable will be attended by representatives of local keneshes, women’s non-government organizations, women movement activists, local law enforcement, courts of elderly, local government structures, and media.

During the roundtable, the Public Foundation DIA will present the project “Osh Oblast’s Support for the 16 Days Campaign of Activism against Gender-Based Violence” aimed at promoting increased awareness of and strengthening efforts for addressing issues of violence against women at the local level.

At the roundtable, its participants will discuss issues of violence against women and girls, identification of roles to be played by members of parliament and responsible government structures in addressing issues of violence, and potential ways of using international documents such as CEDAW and MDG in activities of parliament, women’s NGOs, and women movement activists. In cooperation with the roundtable participants, a detailed campaign schedule will be developed as well as plans for activities to be implemented in pilot villages of Osh oblast ayil aimaks and Osh city territory councils for successful management of the campaign to be carried out in Osh oblast to raise public awareness of gender violence as a human rights issue.

The roundtable program will also include selection of active members of the gender violence victims referral network for participation in the press café and an Yntymak radio program.

The campaign has been conducted with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) as a part of the USAID Collaborative Governance Program.
