On February 8, over 50 university students and 3 professors participated in the guest lecture of Almaz Tazhybai on the theme "Role of Youth and Other Intellectual Groups in Decision-making Process", which was hosted by the Nonprofit Management Resource Center at Kyrgyz National University with support of the USAID Collaborative Governance Program.  In a one-hour session, the lecturer covered several topical issues and activities of non-profit organizations working with youth and other civil society groups focused on solution of social problems of the society. The head of the NGO "Peremena" shared his experience of working in various educational projects and his participation as a member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic. According to Mr. Tajibai, volunteering is an important step to start activities in the non-profit sector, as this experience serves as a guide for young people to find effective ways for resolving the problems of the modern society. Real examples of joint participation of various civil society groups, including students, in decision-making process in the field of legislation and provision of services to citizens led to active debates among the young participants.
