On June 21, more than 50 representatives from the Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament), Office of the Government and other state bodies of the Kyrgyz Republic; representatives from USAID, UNICEF and other international organizations; and members of Pubic Councils, NGOs and the care leaver community actively participated in a roundtable discussion organized by Public Charitable Foundation “Oasis” and Public Association “Our Voice” on the theme “Care Leavers: Reality and Opportunities” as a part of the Care Leavers Advocacy Project. Vice Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, Altynay Omurbekova, supported the recommendations of civil society and public organizations. On behalf of the Committee on Constitutional Legislation, State Structure, Judicial and Legal Issues and Regulations of the Jogorku Kenesh, the vice speaker promised to support the proposed reform for the legislation. In addition, the interdepartmental working group on draft provisions on social support of graduates/care leavers of residential institutions held its first meeting last week as part of a CGP supported project.
