On April 28, 2017, the Nonprofit Management (NPM) Resource Center at Kyrgyz National University (KNU) hosted a Professional Development Workshop (PDW) with the participation of 15 professors from 8 universities of the Consortium of Universities on NPM. During the seminar, participants completed the development of the 5th NPM Course "Rule of Law and the Nonprofit Sector". This course includes materials for students on the principles of the rule of law and the mechanisms for participation of NGOs in promoting the rule of law in the society.

"The curriculum is unique as it has a balance between the international experience and the national context. Much attention was paid to examples from the Kyrgyz reality about the role of the non-profit sector in promoting the rule of law in Kyrgyzstan, as well as applying the principles of the rule of law in the work of civil society organizations in the country," - said Baktygul Ismailova, Higher Education Officer of the USAID Collaborative Governance Program. The workshop participants also discussed issues of improving methodology of teaching NPM courses in universities of the Kyrgyz Republic and presented the results of monitoring the teaching of the 4th course "Public Policy and Advocacy" conducted at two universities – KNU and Osh State University.

This Professional Development Workshop was organized by the NPM Resource Center at KNU with the support of the USAID Collaborative Governance Program.
