On May 23, 2017 the Kyrgyz Government’s Representative Office in Osh Oblast hosted a roundtable, wherein Public Fund “DIA” presented a new project “Protecting Women from Domestic Violence” aimed to facilitate development and introduction of municipal services to prevent domestic violence and support women-victims in six aiyl aimaks (rural municipalities) in Osh Oblast. This PF “DIA” initiative is supported by the USAID Collaborative Governance Program.  Representatives of six targeted aiyl aimaks of Osh oblast, including Uzgen, Nookat, Alai, and Kara Suu districts, participated in the roundtable. Media journalists from newspaper “Osh Jangyrygy” and TV and Radio Company “Yntymak” participated in the roundtable as well and shared the news on the new project with public. During the roundtable, participants learned about the project’s goals and objectives and formed a coalition group, which included such experts as a psychologist, gender expert, advocacy expert, medical specialist, social worker, rayon education department representative, women NGO representatives, and members of local keneshes.
