Assessment of the Organizational and Advocacy Capacity of Civil Society Organizations in the Kyrgyz Republic (OACA Report)

CGP conducted an Assessment of the Organizational and Advocacy Capacity of Civil Society Organizations in the Kyrgyz Republic in July and August 2013. The assessment involved in-depth interviews with 60 diverse CSOs throughout the country to establish a baseline for CGP’s targeted capacity development interventions for CSOs. The assessment identified each CSO’s strengths and areas that need improvement, and provided preliminary recommendations to make each CSO more effective in its area of work.

Analysis of State Procurement of Social Services in Kyrgyzstan and Recommendations for Its Improvement

CGP, through its partner International Center for Not-for-Profit Law (ICNL), conducted the Analysis of State Procurement of Social Services in Kyrgyzstan and Recommendations for Its Improvement, which is available to the public in English and Russian. The Analysis identifies the strengths and weaknesses of the current legislation on social procurement. ICNL has been using the results of the analysis to develop the draft bylaws to improve the legislative framework necessary to advance social procurement in Kyrgyzstan.

ENTREPRENEURIAL ACTIVITY OF NONCOMMERCIAL ORGANIZATIONS IN THE KYRGYZ REPUBLIC

Noncommercial organizations (NCOs) are usually engaged in performing important social services and depend on donations and grants to support this activity. However, many NCOs are unaware that the law also permits them to engage in the sale of goods or services and make profit from this activity, subject to certain constraints. This brochure describes the laws of the Kyrgyz Republic that regulate so-called ―entrepreneurial activity‖ or ―economic activity‖ carried out by an NCO.
